Two weeks ago tomorrow I had the honour of being invited to the Tolkien premiere! It was a truly magical night I'll never forget and I'm so glad I got to share it with my amazing mum. The film is incredible so go see it in cinemas now!
Anyway as soon as I got invited by Lily, not only was I super excited but one of the main thing I was thinking about was what to wear! There's a lot to think about when trying to work out what's the right thing to wear so I thought to help others out I'd share a few of my tips.

Dress Code
You need to follow the dress code if you don't want to stick out like a swore thumb. For the Tolkien premiere the dress code was smart which meant we could dress up a bit. It depends on the kind of film and the time of day what the dress code is but I think it's a pretty good place to start figuring out what you're going to wear.
Sitting Down
The main reason you're there is to watch the film so make sure what ever you wear is comfortable to sit in. You don't want to be fidgeting throughout the film trying to get comfortable, so do a sit down test while you're deciding what to wear to see if the outfit it suitable to sit in.
Weather
No one wants to be too cold or too hot watching a film, so check the weather before you go and try to get a rough idea of what the temperature is likely to be like. You will most likely be leaving the cinema at night, so it can be a lot colder then than when you arrived, so make sure you're prepared with a layer or two.
Travelling
You've go to get to the venue so this is another thing to think about. You don't want to wear an outfit that will get ruined if you wear it on the tube so think about that a bit too. I had the fun task of getting on the tube wearing my floor length dress, which proved interesting on escalators. It was quite funny being surrounded all the business people heading home while my mum and I were all dressed up!
Overdressed VS Under dressed
You don't want to be too overdressed and out shine the celebrities so don't go full red carpet glam, like you see in all the magazines. But then again you don't want to go the other way and turn up looking super casual while everyone else is in suits and gowns. Try find a happy medium and again I'd recommend reading the invite so you can try work out what they're recommending.
Express Yourself
My last tip would be have fun with your outfit! It's not everyday you get to walk a red carpet and be surrounded by stars, so make the most of the experience and have fun dressing up a bit! At the end of the day no one is focusing on what you're wearing so if you feel good in it, wear it!
I hope you've enjoyed this post and that if you ever get to attend a premiere, that it gives you a bit of guidance of what to wear!
Best wishes,
Lottie
